Internal Satisfaction > External Approval
Jess from The Social Sis here! I just got home from a short vacay in sunny Florida, and if you're from the midwest, you know February is a perfect time to escape the freezing temps and long stretches without sunshine. Danielle is currently en route to Colorado to get some good snowboarding in before the season is over. We don't know about you, but taking a break from the usual, from the blue light, is so rejuvenating. It gives our brains aa break from routine and helps us come back feeling more creative and motivated. What rejuvenates you?

Last post we talked about maximizing our time based on our values. If we start taking our values into consideration in everything we do, we are focusing more on internal satisfaction over external approval. That might sound counterproductive when you're trying to run and sustain a business, but here's what we mean by that.
Think of the reasons you started your business in the first place. Most likely, it was formed out of a place of passion or joy. You've opened your own spa because you love the way certain products and treatments made you glow, and you want others to experience that same feeling. You've started selling macrame because you bought a DIY kit to learn something new while quarantining and discovered it was the best part of your day.
When you started your business, you did it because it gave you the opportunity to fill your time doing something you love - something you value - and expanded it into a business giving you the opportunity to expand your passion into something others can also enjoy.
So, back to internal satisfaction over external approval. Sustaining your business depends on external approval to generate sales, but your internal satisfaction for the products you're creating or the content you're posting should come first because there is an audience out there who is going to love it as much as you do, your way, and that's the audience you want. Those are the followers you want as your hype crew. Those are the fans who turn into loyal customers.
How often are you guilty of letting the people-pleasing method of decision-making override your gut feeling? How often have you hesitated to hit "share" or abandoned ship altogether because you've spent so much time dwelling on your caption that you no longer like the post at all? Listen, sis, you are a badass. If you love the pic or the think the caption is funny, post the dang thing! Hold on to your authentic self and your audience will grow. Trust your intuition, follow your instincts, and don't get lost in the idea of external approval. There's nothing more rewarding than finding success while being true to yourself and your brand.

Listen, sis, we know how much work maintaining your social media account is. We also know how tedious engagement can be. If you're tired of spending time building or maintaining a presence on social media, hit us up. Let us focus on doing something we love so you can spend more time doing what you love.
