It's not about being perfect.

Jess here. I asked Danielle if she had anything in mind for this month's blog and she simply said, "Dare to suck," which is advice from the Kid Cudi documentary, "A Man Named Scott." It's funny because Danielle and I both went through a Cudi phase and loved the "Man on the Moon" album. I can honestly say that looking back now, I didn't realize I was entranced by an album that was breaking barriers and creating genres. I just knew I loved it. It's incredible when individuals have the ability to create something that has never been done before. Humans have been doing and growing and creating forever, and one person can inspire a whole new genre of music, videography, art, photography, dance, etc.

Look at most of us. Tik Tok is a great example. Videos trend and we all jump on the bandwagon and recreate something that one person thought up first. The great thing about those trends is there's usually someone who comes along and does it better, but typically it's because they dared to do it different than the other 700 million users. In what ways can you help your business, brand, or service stand out? Are you the first? And if you're not the first, how did you recreate it to be the best or captivate your ideal audience? Let us be the first to say that it's okay if you're still figuring that part out, but what an important part that is to your success!

Putting yourself out there (even if it's to hop on a Tik Tok trend) can take a little bit of bravery. I say that because that's how I feel as a millennial. The concept of dancing in front of my phone in the living room or having my husband take a video of me in a public place isn't a concept I grew up doing. And I'll admit that I am terrible at lip syncing. Danielle is great at it, hence the majority of our reels 😂. But like Cudi says...dare to suck! Put yourself out there. Do the dang thing. At the end of the day, it's growth. You can't get better without a few flops along the way, and hopefully, the worst that can happen is it becomes type two funny - you know, not funny in the moment, but funny to look back on.

Anyone who has launched a business dared to suck, which is so brave! Think of all the chances people never take on themselves, and YOU did. If you haven't taken the chance on yourself that is constantly in the back of your mind...maybe now is the time. There's never a "good time" for throwing your life upside-down, but sis, what if it's all worth it?

If you're to the end of this blog and still thinking, "I love my business, but I still don't want to figure out how to promote it on social media," then girl, let's talk. We started our social media management biz because we love the process behind making a brand or service shine. Social media is our medium, but at the end of the day, empowering others is what we love to do. It's why we took a chance on launching The Social Sis.
